NEW: BARBARELLA BREAKFAST DISCOUNT FOR SCRIPPS OCEANOGRAPHIC SOCIETY AND E.W. SCRIPPS ASSOCIATES MEMBERS

 Scripps Oceanographic Society members and E.W. Scripps Associates are invited to enjoy 10% discount on breakfast this summer at Barbarella in La Jolla Shores. Barbarella is renowned for European-style bistro foods with menus that change daily. The restaurant is extending hours by featuring gourmet breakfasts beginning at 8 a.m. Now through August 31, SOS and EWSA members who present membership cards will receive 10% off breakfast. Barbarella is located at 2171 Avenida de la Playa. For reservations, please call 858-454-7373. Barbara Beltaire is the restaurant owner and originator of Birch Aquarium's "Galaxy of Sea Stars" support program. The Stars can be seen in the entrance courtyard of the Aquarium and there is room for more!

SOS members connect with and support both Birch Aquarium and Scripps Institution of Oceanography in many ways, from visiting the aquarium, to participating in public programs, supporting ocean research, providing fellowships for young scientists, and more.

Your Membership Makes a Difference!

The Birch Aquarium receives no direct state funding, and must generate more than $4 million each year in gifts, grants, and income to operate its programs. Your membership provides vital support for the aquarium's interactive exhibits and dynamic public programs for all ages.

Your support also helps the aquarium maintain successful breeding programs (sea horses, corals, and more), which help reduce the need for collections in the wild.

Membership also provides crucial support for Scripps's outreach efforts, helping the aquarium deliver exciting science programs directly into the schools and communities, and promoting awareness of ocean science research.

Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego is one of the largest, oldest, and most important centers for global science research and graduate student training in the world. Birch Aquarium at Scripps is the public exploration center for Scripps, dedicated to promoting ocean science education, interpreting Scripps research, and promoting ocean conservation.
